Logistics Giant Americold Purchases Additional Cold Storage Facility in San Antonio

Americold has already secured its position as a global leader in temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics for the food industry, owning and operating over 145 facilities across 35 US states. On a global scale, the company operates a total of more than 165 temperature-controlled warehouses throughout the US, Australia, New Zealand, China, Argentina, and Canada, amounting to over 1billion cubic feet of storage.

Still not satisfied with this level of success however, Americold are set to expand even further with the acquisition of an additional facility in San Antonio.

The facility, located on a 26 acre site with a footprint of more than 384,000sq ft, includes three separate temperature-controlled rooms, designed to accommodate frozen, refrigerated, and air-conditioned dry space. The facility also features around 42,000sq ft of office space, as well as twin docks offering air-conditioned operations for 57 dock doors.

Fred Boehler, president and CEO of Americold, commented on the purchase, “Americold is very excited to be adding a second San Antonio facility to our organization, extending our company’s standing as the leading owner-operator of temperature-controlled infrastructure in the world.

“We’re always looking for strategic opportunities to enhance our network, and the location of this facility - on the north east side of San Antonio, close to the I-35, I-10, and I-410 interchanges - is ideal.”

This is unlikely to be Americold’s only effort to extend their reach and their brand, although the newly-acquired facility should certainly have a substantial impact on the company’s bottom line.
